Full Color Bible - Bible Review

This is an exciting article for me. Many, many years ago I purchased as “Rainbow Study Bible.” Over the years I used the Rainbow extensively along with the many other Bibles I’ve obtained. I’ve always enjoyed using the Rainbow Study Bible. I was initially disappointed when I learned that it was no longer going to be published but that disappointment turned to exuberance when I found out that Standard Publishing now owns the rights to it and has renamed the “Rainbow Study Bible” to the “Standard Full Color Bible.” A complete line of the Full Color Bibles can be obtained at Emmaus Road Christian Store. So in essence, this article will examine Standard Publishing’s approach to the Full Color Bible, the layout of the Bible and something about the “why” of the Full Color Bible.

Perhaps you’re a new believer or a seasoned Bible student. Maybe, like many of us, you fall somewhere in between. Reading and understanding God’s Word can be a challenging task for anyone. The Standard Full Color Bible offers a unique learning system that any student of the Bible can benefit from. Unlike traditional Bibles with simple black text, this unique presentation of Scripture explodes with color. The Standard Full Color Bible has highlighted every verse in the entire Bible into one of 12 color-coded themes allowing for instant identification of major topics. When you begin to use the Standard Full Color Bible in your study, you’ll become familiar with the colors that represent the 12 themes. As you continue reading verses or passages of Scripture, you will instantly recognize the topic being addressed as the color-coding provides immediate context and increased understanding of God’s Word.

See Scripture like never before with the Standard Full Color Bible.

The Standard Full Color Bible can be used in many ways to enhance understanding of God’s Word. Use the ideas below to get started or discover your own ways to use the color-coding feature to get more out of your Bible study.

Study by Topic
What an easy way to locate the topics you want to study. If you are seeking God’s direction in raising your children, dig in to the YELLOW verses about FAMILY. Want to become more involved in OUTREACH? The color is PINK. If you’re facing a personal challenge, turn to the ORANGE passages and let them recharge your FAITH. Feeling spiritually oppressed? The BROWN passages expose the darkness of EVIL to the light.

Study by Verse or Chapter
Perhaps you enjoy reading the Bible more traditionally—verse by verse and chapter by chapter. As you become familiar with the spectrum of colors and their topics, you will enjoy an added (and effortless) dimension of understanding—the colors will have signaled the overall theme of a given passage even before you read it. Use the One-Year Daily Bible Reading Calendar included in the back of the Bible to guide you through reading the entire Bible in a year—once through the Old Testament and twice through the New Testament.

Study by Book of the Bible
The synopsis pages at the beginning of each book give the key words/themes for that particular book of the Bible. For example, the book of Isaiah focuses on SALVATION and the EVIL that God’s people had adopted from surrounding nations. By using the BLUE color for the SALVATION theme, you can flip through and see quickly what Isaiah had to say about it. And by using the BROWN theme for EVIL, do the same.

Prayer Guide
Use the 12 categories as a structure for personal prayer. Thank God for his example of LOVE by praying through the GREEN coded verses. Pray through the YELLOW verses and ask God for wisdom in leading your family.

Ideas for Journaling
Perhaps you prefer to meditate on individual verses or passages rather then reading large chunks of Scripture at a given time. Skim the colors systematically and pull devotional thoughts to enhance journaling. You can also use the list of 365 Popular Bible Quotations for Memorization and Meditation found in the back of the Bible to provide a verse for reflection and memorization every day of the year.

Group Study
Beforehand, the leader goes through the Bible to see where colors are most prominent in particular books of the Bible and then chooses these books to go with that month’s theme. Members could be assigned prior to their discussion time to delve, for example, into the topic of FAMILY in the book of Proverbs. All you have to do is look for the YELLOW!

Sermon Series
Use the 12 themes to plan a sermon series for each month of the year. Choose passages from various books of the Bible to give a comprehensive overview of individual topics. Start out the year learning about GOD by looking at the PURPLE color-coded verses. The BOLD LINE® feature will also help you quickly distinguish all spoken words of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. End the sermon series by looking at God’s promises in the GOLD colored passages of PROPHECY.

Why the Colors?
The appeal of color is universal. Without it, our world would be rather bland. Color brings things to life. That’s what makes the Standard Full Color Bible so unique. It brings the Bible to life by presenting God’s Word in an explosion of color. As you begin to use the Standard Full Color Bible in your study, you’ll become familiar with the colors that represent the 12 themes. As you continue reading verses or passages of Scripture, you will instantly recognize the topic being addressed as the color-coding provides immediate context and increased understanding of God’s Word.

This simplified approach to studying God’s Word features color-coding for easily identifiable key scriptural themes. Each verse of the Bible is highlighted with a color representing one of 12 themes to encourage deeper understanding and better retention.
