Joel Rosenberg

Today I will take a look at best-selling author Joel Rosenberg and do a review of three of his books; The Last Jihad (his first), Dead Heat (his current best-seller) and Inside the Revolution (his latest release). Rosenberg has been endorsed by such high level organizations such as:
U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT CALLS ROSENBERG:“A modern Nostradamus.”

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS CALLS ROSENBERG’S BOOKS:“Eerily prophetic.”

CNN HEADLINE NEWS SAYS:“For many adults Joel Rosenberg is the ‘it author’ right now. Inside and outside the Beltway in Washington, people are snatching up copies of his almost life-like terrorist suspense novels.”

RUSH LIMBAUGH SAYS:“If you only read one novel this year, this is it! The Ezekiel Option is brilliantly conceived and flawlessly executed -- one of the most exciting political thrillers I've ever read. I literally could not put it down. Like an episode of '24' with a supernatural twist. Rosenberg has become one of the most entertaining and thought-provoking novelists of our day. Regardless of your political views, you've got to read his stuff."

SEAN HANNITY SAYS:“The Last Days is riveting to the point you can’t put it down –a heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat roller coaster ride ….an even more daring book than The Last Jihad…. this is so intertwined with modern events, it’s scary.”

MICHAEL REAGAN SAYS:“The Last Days is a gutsy new breed of political thriller – almost prophetically forecasting what you’ll read in tomorrow’s headlines.”
RALPH PETERS, author Beyond Iraq: Postmodern War and Peace SAYS: Another direct hit on the dangers of a troubled world...Joel Rosenberg again displays an uncanny eye for global realities along with his powerful storytelling ability--and a sense of the pressing spiritual challenges of our time. The Ezekiel Option is bound for well-deserved bestseller status."

Joel C. Rosenberg is the New York Times best-selling author of The Last Jihad, The Last Days, The Ezekiel Option, The Copper Scroll, and Epicenter: How the Current Rumblings in the Middle East Will Change Your World, with more than one million copies in print. He is also the founder and president of the Joshua Fund, a nonprofit charitable and educational organization that provides humanitarian relief for victims of war and terrorism in Israel and the Muslim world.
As a communications strategist, Joel has worked with some of the world's most influential leaders in business, politics, and media, including Steve Forbes, Rush Limbaugh, former Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Natan Sharansky, and former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. As a novelist, he has been interviewed on more than 300 radio and TV programs, including ABC's Nightline, CNN Headline News, Fox News Channel, the History Channel, MSNBC, the Rush Limbaugh Show, and the Sean Hannity Show. He has been profiled by The New York Times, The Washington Times, and The Jerusalem Post, and he was the subject of two cover stories in World magazine. He has addressed audiences all over the world, including Russia, Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, and Belgium. He has spoken at the White House, the Heritage Foundation, AOL, and the International Spy Museum, as well as at dozens of conferences, universities, churches, synagogues, political events, book-seller conventions, and charitable fund-raisers.

Joel was born to a Jewish father and a Gentile mother, Joel is an evangelical Christian. His grandparents escaped Russian persecution of the Jews in the early part of the twentieth century. Joel graduated from Syracuse University in 1989 and studied at Tel Aviv University. He is married, has four sons, and lives near Washington, D.C., where he and his wife are members of McLean Bible Church. His Web sites are http://www.joelrosenberg.com/ and http://www.joshuafund.net/.

The Last Jihad is the first of Joel C. Rosenberg's New York Times best-selling series, with 500,000 in print. The first page puts readers in the cockpit of a hijacked jet on a kamikaze mission into an American city--but it was written nine months before 9/11/01. As the plot unfolds, White House advisors Jon Bennett and Erin McCoy are under attack in Jerusalem as the U.S. goes to war with Iraq over weapons of mass destruction--but The Last Jihad was published four months before the actual Iraq war began.

The eerily prophetic New York Times best seller that predicted an attack on the U.S. and the war in Iraq . . . but was written before any of it happened.

Jon Bennett and Erin McCoy are two of the shrewdest strategists on Wall Street and close friends of the president of the United States. Their secret project: a billion-dollar oil deal off the coast of Tel Aviv and Gaza that could form the basis of a historic peace treaty and bring enormous wealth to every Israeli and Palestinian. But nothing has prepared Jon or Erin for the terror that lies ahead.

Terrorists hijack a jet plane and fly a kamikaze mission into an American city.
Israeli commandos foil a nuclear attack but find evidence that the next targets could be Washington and New York.

And suddenly the United States finds itself in a war in the Middle East over terrorism and weapons of mass destruction that will forever change the course of human history. \

Dead Heat
The stage is set for war. Oil prices are surging to record highs. A new dictator is rising in Iraq. China is threatening Taiwan. North Korean forces are ready to strike south. Israel is feverishly trying to complete the Third Temple. And in the midst of a world ready to explode, American president James MacPherson’s second term is ending. The battle to succeed him is heating up into the most fiercely contested presidential election in American history. Who will lead a bitterly divided country over the next four years? And just what role—if any—does the U.S. play in history’s last days?As the presidential campaign narrows into a dead heat, the Secret Service learns of a catastrophic terrorist plot to assassinate one of the candidates—but which one? Who do they want dead? And can U.S. forces stop the terrorists before millions lose their lives? From New York Times best-selling novelist Joel C. Rosenberg comes an explosive new political thriller released amid the drama of the 2008 presidential campaign . . . and God forbid it should ever come true.

Inside the Revolution takes you inside the winner-take-all battle for the hearts, minds and souls of the people of the Middle East. It includes never-before-seen profiles of the Radicals, the Reformers, and the Revivalists. It explains the implications of each movement and the importance of each leader – not only through the lenses of politics and economics but through the third lens of Scripture as well. Today, wars and revolutions define the modern Middle East, and many believe the worst is yet to come.Inside the Revolution will answer 4 questions:

• How real and serious is the threat of Radical Islam to American national security eight years after 9/11?

• Are there any Muslim leaders who oppose the violence of the Radicals – and is there any hope that such leaders will come to power in key countries in the Middle East?

• What is God doing in the Middle East – and is there any hope that Muslims will find faith in Jesus Christ?

• How can we as Christians help strengthen our brothers and sisters who love Jesus in the Muslim world, and how can we reach out to the Muslims here at home?

The Good Shepherd

In Ezekiel 24: 11-16 it says that God Himself will search for His sheep and take care of them and that he would be the one looking after them. It says that He will rescue them from where they are scattered to. It says that He will be the one. It says that He will take came of them. God will be the one. God knows his sheep.

In the Old Testament shepherds weren’t looked down upon like they were in the New Testament era. Ezekiel refers to God as a shepherd, Isaiah mentions God as a shepherd, we know that King David was a shepherd in his youth and Psalm 23 refers to God as a shepherd. God is referred to as the “Good Shepherd.” Somewhere between the Old and the New Testament a transaction occurred whereby shepherds were viewed in the same light as the tax collectors. People considered the shepherd to be the “lowlife” of society. The considered the shepherd to be anything but honorable.

In Luke 15 Jesus is telling a parable about three things, 1. About a shepherd and his sheep, 2. About a woman and her lost coin, 3. About a son who went astray and was lost. When you look at Luke 15 you will notice the people were gathering around Jesus to listen to what he had to say. They weren’t the “high and mighty,” they weren’t the elite of society, not were they the “holier than thou” people. They were present but they were standing at a distant watching. They were standing at a distant because they didn’t want to rub shoulders with those who were gathered close to Jesus. Those who were close to Jesus were the tax collectors, the prostitutes and the “sinners.” They were considered to be the lowlifes of the world. The Pharisees, the Sadducees, the scribes and the priest were there, just not very close. They just didn’t want to associate with those who were there. The religious elite really believed that the Messiah would come from their ranks. They thought he would be educated at the University of Pharisee and learned under the great Gamaliel. So when the Messiah can onto the scene, he was different than what they expected. He was associating with “sinners.” Those people the Pharisees despised.

Jesus knowing all things knew what the religious elite were thinking. And knowing what they were thinking Jesus took the opportunity to teach not only those who were hungry for the Word, but to also teach the religious elite. Jesus had a way of bringing people into his stories. He starts the parable saying that suppose you have a hundred sheep. Not someone else, but you. Right away, the religious were in the story, they had 100 sheep and now he only has 99. One of them was lost. It was in the sheepfold this morning. The shepherd takes an inventory of his sheep and notices he only has 99. He does a recount and comes up with the same number. He knows which one is lost because he knows his sheep. They belong to him. He is not a hired herdsman; he is the owner of the sheep. The hired herdsman may know that a sheep is missing, but so what. A hired herdsman will go in the evening after word and tell the owner that one wondered off. This is the owner. He knows that it is the one with the black mark under its left eye, the one that was caught in the briars just a week before.

The shepherd realizing that one of his is missing becomes very concerned. The shepherd is thinking, “I must go and search for my lost sheep, if I don’t then my lost sheep will be taken by a bear, a lion or other wild predator. My sheep may end up starving to death, may fall over a cliff.” The shepherd is very concerned. The owner-shepherd must go and find his lost sheep. He is not going to send the hired hands to go and find his sheep, he is going. He is going to leave the 99 sheep that did not wonder off in the hands of the hired herdsman. The 99 did not wonder off, he personally will go and find the lost one.

As the shepherd searches, he must go through the valleys, climb the rough terrain, and crawl through the thicket. It doesn’t matter where he must go, the only thing on his mind is his lost sheep and that he must rescue it. The shepherd knows that he will find his sheep. Jesus in his parable doesn’t say “if he finds it” but rather “when he finds it.” Make no mistake about it, the shepherd will find it. The shepherd will not give up until he finds it. After many hours of searching the shepherd sees his sheep, perhaps in a distance, perhaps ready to be pounced on by a bear. The shepherd to the rescue! The shepherd rescues his sheep and saves the day. When he finds the sheep, the shepherd is full of joy. He doesn’t scold the sheep for wondering off. He knows that his sheep need him. He knows his sheep is dependent upon him. He knows his sheep aren’t he smartest of the animals but are none the less precious. Being full of joy he puts the sheep on his shoulders. He doesn’t make the sheep walk the long path home. The trail was rough, the sheep needs the shepherd. The shepherd would not even think about making his sheep walk the hard path home. The shepherd places the sheep on his shoulders and carries the sheep back across the rough terrain, through the thicket, back into the valley until he arrives home.

When the shepherd arrives home, he doesn’t release the sheep back into the sheepfold but rather calls all of his friends to come to the celebration saying, “rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.” Luke 15:7 says that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over the ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Many families today have family members who have wondered off from the family. Perhaps someone in the family said something to “hurt their feelings.” Perhaps someone in the family did something to them and this one member of the family left. Maybe the one who wondered off did something that the rest of the family “couldn’t forgive.” What are you going to do about it? As a Christian you are called to forgive as Jesus forgives. As a Christian you are called to love as Jesus loves.

Within the church there have been members of the sheepfold who have wondered off. It’s not until sometime later that we ask, “Whatever happened to so and so?” Maybe they were offended by something someone said. Maybe they misunderstood something. What are you going to do about it? Are you going to simply say that they choose to leave or are you going to love as Jesus loved and find out what happened to them? In Isaiah 58 God said that if we do what we should do, we will be called, “Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.” It’s your choice!

First Place 4 Health

There are so many programs today “designed” to help people “loose weight” or to “get fit.” I have tried several with some providing a degree of success and others not. Those that provided me with “success” usually have something associated with it that is detrimental to my overall health. I’ve often wondered if there could be some type of program out there that is cost efficient while at the same time “good” for me. A couple of months ago my daughter brought to my attention a program published by Gospel Light call “First Place 4 Health.” I’ve researched it and what I believe I have found is a program that covers every aspect of our being.

The First Place 4 Health movement has taken the nation by storm! Started in 1981 as a ministry of Houston’s First Baptist Church, First Place 4 Health is a reliable, proven method of weight loss and healthy living. It continues to grow as a strong church program. First Place 4 Health has had groups in over 12,000 churches across the country—with over a half million members!

The tremendous success of First Place 4 Health is due to its biblical approach to weight loss and overall health management, which puts Christ first and improves every area of a person’s life. This Christ-centered, balanced weight-loss and healthy living program has guided hundreds of thousands of people to a healthy lifestyle and a closer walk with the Lord.

What’s unique about First Place 4 Health?
Christ-centered priorities: Bible study, prayer and Scripture memory
Choices for health: Addressing the whole person—emotions, mind, body and spirit
Community: Support and accountability through small groups

First Place 4 Health offers a series of Bible Studies. These studies address many issues of everyday life and provide opportunities for growth in Christ. Members complete a weekly Bible study which—combined with prayer and Scripture reading—helps to impart God's strength, empowering members to overcome temptation and make long-lasting lifestyle changes.

Our Approach
Although weight management is most often our motivation for joining a First Place 4 Health group, the focus is not just on the body or on the number on the scale. That’s a crucial difference between First Place 4 Health and other weight-loss programs. By applying disciplines that affect the whole person—the body, the mind, the heart and the spirit—you will not only experience physical health but will also experience total health—health for life!

Why Choose First Place 4 Health?
A wide variety of people become members of First Place 4 Health, from those who struggle with losing five to 10 pounds to those who battle obesity or are tired of yo-yo dieting. Some may join to increase their knowledge about nutrition, to get help with implementing a consistent exercise plan, or to learn how to develop a healthy lifestyle for their family. Whatever their reasons, they soon discover that First Place 4 Health is a biblically based, medically trustworthy wellness program that addresses the whole person—physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

Four-Sided Person
Soon after coming into First Place 4 Health, we begin to realize that our eating is not the only part of our life that is out of control. We soon discover that we are people who lack balance and harmony in many other areas of our life, too.

As you study the crossed bars with the diamond at the center in the illustration of the four-sided person above, consider each area with regard to your current situation. Begin by asking yourself the most important question, “Is Jesus at the center of my life—is He both my Savior and my Lord?” Realize that you cannot achieve balance in the other areas until you have placed yourself completely under the Lordship of Christ, and doing so needs to be your first priority.

Next, turn your attention to the four bars that represent your heart, soul, mind and strength. How much balance do you currently have in each of those aspects of your life? What area of your life needs attention today? Do you see a pattern emerging between the balance and harmony you are experiencing and the degree to which you have surrendered your life to Christ? Remember, no matter how strong you may be in one area, you are only as strong as your weakest point!

No matter how lopsided, or empty, your chart looks right now, do not despair. You will find help to address the areas of your life that need attention in First Place 4 Health. As you (1) apply yourself to the First Place 4 Health program, (2) begin to study God’s Word, (3) interact with the others in your group, and (4) follow a prudent plan of eating and exercise, you will be simultaneously working to bring health and wholeness to all four areas of your being.

What Makes First Place 4 Health Unique?
Christ-centered Priorities: Bible study, prayer and Scripture memory
Choices for Health: Addressing the whole person — emotions, mind, body and spirit
Community: Support and accountability through small groups

Our Mission
First Place 4 Health is dedicated to providing quality information for development of a physical, emotional and spiritual environment leading to a life that honors God in Jesus Christ. As a health-oriented program, First Place 4 Health shall stress the highest excellence and proficiency in instruction with a goal of developing within each participant mastery of all the basics of a lasting healthy lifestyle, so that all may achieve their highest potential in body, mind and spirit. The spiritual development of each participant shall be given high priority so that each may come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ and God's plan and purpose for each life.

Full Color Bible - Bible Review

This is an exciting article for me. Many, many years ago I purchased as “Rainbow Study Bible.” Over the years I used the Rainbow extensively along with the many other Bibles I’ve obtained. I’ve always enjoyed using the Rainbow Study Bible. I was initially disappointed when I learned that it was no longer going to be published but that disappointment turned to exuberance when I found out that Standard Publishing now owns the rights to it and has renamed the “Rainbow Study Bible” to the “Standard Full Color Bible.” A complete line of the Full Color Bibles can be obtained at Emmaus Road Christian Store. So in essence, this article will examine Standard Publishing’s approach to the Full Color Bible, the layout of the Bible and something about the “why” of the Full Color Bible.

Perhaps you’re a new believer or a seasoned Bible student. Maybe, like many of us, you fall somewhere in between. Reading and understanding God’s Word can be a challenging task for anyone. The Standard Full Color Bible offers a unique learning system that any student of the Bible can benefit from. Unlike traditional Bibles with simple black text, this unique presentation of Scripture explodes with color. The Standard Full Color Bible has highlighted every verse in the entire Bible into one of 12 color-coded themes allowing for instant identification of major topics. When you begin to use the Standard Full Color Bible in your study, you’ll become familiar with the colors that represent the 12 themes. As you continue reading verses or passages of Scripture, you will instantly recognize the topic being addressed as the color-coding provides immediate context and increased understanding of God’s Word.

See Scripture like never before with the Standard Full Color Bible.

The Standard Full Color Bible can be used in many ways to enhance understanding of God’s Word. Use the ideas below to get started or discover your own ways to use the color-coding feature to get more out of your Bible study.

Study by Topic
What an easy way to locate the topics you want to study. If you are seeking God’s direction in raising your children, dig in to the YELLOW verses about FAMILY. Want to become more involved in OUTREACH? The color is PINK. If you’re facing a personal challenge, turn to the ORANGE passages and let them recharge your FAITH. Feeling spiritually oppressed? The BROWN passages expose the darkness of EVIL to the light.

Study by Verse or Chapter
Perhaps you enjoy reading the Bible more traditionally—verse by verse and chapter by chapter. As you become familiar with the spectrum of colors and their topics, you will enjoy an added (and effortless) dimension of understanding—the colors will have signaled the overall theme of a given passage even before you read it. Use the One-Year Daily Bible Reading Calendar included in the back of the Bible to guide you through reading the entire Bible in a year—once through the Old Testament and twice through the New Testament.

Study by Book of the Bible
The synopsis pages at the beginning of each book give the key words/themes for that particular book of the Bible. For example, the book of Isaiah focuses on SALVATION and the EVIL that God’s people had adopted from surrounding nations. By using the BLUE color for the SALVATION theme, you can flip through and see quickly what Isaiah had to say about it. And by using the BROWN theme for EVIL, do the same.

Prayer Guide
Use the 12 categories as a structure for personal prayer. Thank God for his example of LOVE by praying through the GREEN coded verses. Pray through the YELLOW verses and ask God for wisdom in leading your family.

Ideas for Journaling
Perhaps you prefer to meditate on individual verses or passages rather then reading large chunks of Scripture at a given time. Skim the colors systematically and pull devotional thoughts to enhance journaling. You can also use the list of 365 Popular Bible Quotations for Memorization and Meditation found in the back of the Bible to provide a verse for reflection and memorization every day of the year.

Group Study
Beforehand, the leader goes through the Bible to see where colors are most prominent in particular books of the Bible and then chooses these books to go with that month’s theme. Members could be assigned prior to their discussion time to delve, for example, into the topic of FAMILY in the book of Proverbs. All you have to do is look for the YELLOW!

Sermon Series
Use the 12 themes to plan a sermon series for each month of the year. Choose passages from various books of the Bible to give a comprehensive overview of individual topics. Start out the year learning about GOD by looking at the PURPLE color-coded verses. The BOLD LINE® feature will also help you quickly distinguish all spoken words of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. End the sermon series by looking at God’s promises in the GOLD colored passages of PROPHECY.

Why the Colors?
The appeal of color is universal. Without it, our world would be rather bland. Color brings things to life. That’s what makes the Standard Full Color Bible so unique. It brings the Bible to life by presenting God’s Word in an explosion of color. As you begin to use the Standard Full Color Bible in your study, you’ll become familiar with the colors that represent the 12 themes. As you continue reading verses or passages of Scripture, you will instantly recognize the topic being addressed as the color-coding provides immediate context and increased understanding of God’s Word.

This simplified approach to studying God’s Word features color-coding for easily identifiable key scriptural themes. Each verse of the Bible is highlighted with a color representing one of 12 themes to encourage deeper understanding and better retention.
Bold Line® distinguishes all spoken words of God throughout
At-a-glance introduction and outline for each book
Maps and illustrations throughout
365 popular Bible quotations for memorization
Daily Bible reading calendars
Concordance & Subject Guide

Tenth Avenue North - Christian Music

The following information about Tenth Avenue North was taken from their web page. Tenth Avenue North is not just an up and coming group, a group of the future, but a group for today. I hope Tenth Avenue North doesn’t object from me republishing information about their group. To listen to sound bites from their CD, “Over and Underneath” you can do so at Emmaus Road Christian Store. You can visit their website here.

Tenth Avenue North
The Tale of Tenth Avenue North By Mike Donehey
All right, if you want to get personal with Tenth Avenue North, There are some things you should know. First of all, Jeff is a cyborg. Half human, half robot, half Irish, half Asian. That's a whole lot of halves, but if you do the math you'll see it all adds up. We call him half-and-half for short. Jason can build things with his hands. Big things. Complicated things. Things like magic lockets, cars, houses, and babies. Not real babies, but ones that look real, and would probably look good on an old lady's porch next to the yard gnomes. My name is Mike, and I am a Native American. My Indian name is Squatting Moose, and according to ChaCha, I could beat Al Roker in a fight. Roker may have the power of the weather behind him, but I have the power of God!
And Scott, well...Scott can teleport.
We met in sunny West Palm Beach, Florida, almost a decade ago, at Palm Beach Atlantic College. And that was before it became a university, and before Tenth Avenue North was more than just a street name. That all changed though when Jason and I moved into some student housingoff of that street and named our band after it. That's where the magic happened after all, and we don't ever want to forget it.
Jeff came down to Florida from Indiana a few years later. He was new to the south and he even admits that he had a hard time fitting in at first. What with being part robot and all, can you really blame him? If you think humidity messes with your hair, you should see what it does to a central operating comprehensive mainframe! But after a few years, a few bands, and several member switch outs later, he came to be at home with himself and with the Florida weather, and eventually became the permanent electric guitarist and fixture for the band. And that all happened just two sweet years ago.
Scott materialized almost a year before that, and started playing with us through a common position at a local church called Christ Fellowship. He was a techie back then, but when a long time member left the band, Scott teleported in and has been laying down nasty sick grooves and rad piano parts ever since. At present, We're just trying to find our way in the Christian music industry"dodging traffic at the intersection of art, faith, and commerce,"as Jon Foreman once put it. We all come from church backgrounds and families, and therefore, are not satisfied saying the same old things in the same old ways. What we're hoping for with this music that we're making is to not just entertain people. I think it's safe to say that we already have plenty of that. What we're wanting is to see people encounter truth. Remember, we all worked at a church for some time, and there we saw plenty of emotion. We saw plenty of people having a good time, but it wasn't long until we realized that if emotion isn't being evoked by truth, well, then it just doesn't last. And we want this love in hearts to last. I guess you could say we're done just trying to get emotional from blast beatsand hip guitar lyrics. Instead, we desire to be cut to the heart. To be honest, genuine, and faithful to what we believe is truth. Nobody said it would be easy, but if easy isn't true, then who wants it?

Audio Memory

Whether your children are in public school or whether you homeschool your children, Audio Memory is an excellent source for helping children to learn. If your child is struggling trying to learn their addition, subtraction, multiplication or division, you will find Audio Memory to be a great aid in their learning process. You can view these products at Emmaus Road Christian Store.

What is Audio Memory?
Audio Memory Publishing produces materials that encourage students to teach themselves. With the aid of audio cassettes, sing and point exercises and written work, students are able to use "all avenues to the brain." Learning becomes a painless, fun activity which can be enjoyed individually or in a group.

Why use songs to teach these subjects?
Simple answer: It's a lot more fun.

Scientific answer: Virtually all scientists now agree that reading and singing lyrics while listening to music strengthens the connections between frequently used brain cells. Singing activates both sides of the brain. The brain is a pattern-seeker. Putting information into an organized framework such as a song makes it easier to remember.

Singing prepares students for piano lessons. The latest research shows that taking piano lessons improves spatial-temporal reasoning - skills necessary for science and math. Singing is also good exercise. The deep breathing required of singers increases the amount of oxygen in the body. More oxygen to the brain produces better thinking. Singing lifts our spirits and focuses our attention. It is also especially helpful for students with ADD or other learning problems.

Who is using these materials?
Audio Memory has been in business for 16 years. Their products are sold world-wide. They are used by home schoolers, missionaries, public schools, private schools, Montessori schools, after-school programs, tutors, special education programs, blind students, ESL students and parents. Many people use them in the car. They are used by foreign students in language labs for practice in pronunciation and development of vocabulary and grammar.

Are these materials for beginners or advanced students?
Because of the universal appeal of music, these songs can be used with both beginners and advanced students. Children as young as 3 and 4 often memorize the songs before their older siblings. Even though they may not understand what they are memorizing, small children are often able to memorize much information when it is put to music. Later, when they are older, they will be able to apply what they have memorized.
These materials are successful in many settings:

English classes

math classes

reading classes

choir classes

art classes (They listen while they draw, paint, etc.)

P.E. classes (Try doing aerobics with the songs.)

dance classes

learning centers (with headphones)

International Festivals / Global Awareness events

geography classes

social studies classes

on the playground (Hop across a giant map of the USA while singing the States & Capitals.)

on the school bus

in the car

in the bathtub

in the kitchen (while cooking/ cleaning)

while jumping rope or walking

in hospitals (with headphones)

whenever the substitute teacher has run out of things to do

whenever the teacher needs to sit down and rest.

Who's the Author?
Larry and Kathy Troxel are both professional musicians and teachers. Kathy has taught for over ten years in private, public and home schools. She started Grammar Songs in 1980 while teaching a sophomore English class and spent five years developing it and testing it with different age groups. After that, she and her husband joined together to produce other educational music. The business of Audio Memory Publishing has become their full-time work (along with parenting). They have plans to produce more educational materials. Please let us know by e-mail what other educational songs you would like produced.

Tony Dungy "Uncommon" and "Quiet Strength"

This week I will briefly review the career of Tony Dungy as well as a synopsis of two of his books, “Uncommon” (his most recent release) and “Quiet Strength.” Though now officially retired from football, Dungy is having as great an impact today through his charitable organizations and writings as he did on the football field. Tony Dungy’s books are on sale and available at Emmaus Road Christian Store.

Tony Dungy led the Indianapolis Colts to Super Bowl victory on February 4, 2007, the first such win for an African American coach. Dungy had taken eight of his previous ten teams to the playoffs. With this victory, he joined Mike Ditka and Tom Flores as the only individuals to win the Super Bowl as a player and head coach. Dungy had a stellar career as an NFL coach. With all of his successes though, he is mostly known for taking a strong stand for his Christian faith.

Prior to entering the coaching fraternity, Tony Dungy had a brief stint as a player. Though a quarterback in college, the Pittsburg Steelers drafted him as a safety. After a couple of years with the Steelers he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers. Dungy joined the Colts in 2002 after serving as the most successful head coach in Tampa Bay history. He has also held assistant coaching positions with the University of Minnesota, Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Minnesota Vikings. Before becoming a coach, Dungy played three seasons in the NFL.

Dungy has been involved in a wide variety of charitable organizations, including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Athletes in Action, Mentors for Life, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys & Girls Clubs, the Prison Crusade Ministry, and All Pro Dad. He also works with Basket of Hope, the Black Coaches Association National Convention, Indiana Black Expo, the United Way of Central Indiana, and the American Diabetes Association.
He and his wife, Lauren, are the parents of six children: daughters, Tiara and Jade, and sons, Eric, Jordan, and Justin, and the late James Dungy.

Uncommon
Super Bowl winning coach and #1 New York Times best selling author Tony Dungy has had an unusual opportunity to reflect on what it takes to achieve significance. He is looked to by many as the epitome of the success and significance that is highly valued in our culture. He also works every day with young men who are trying to achieve significance through football and all that goes with a professional athletic career such as money, power, and celebrity. Coach Dungy has had all that, but he passionately believes that there is a different path to significance, a path characterized by attitudes, ambitions, and allegiances that are all too rare but uncommonly rewarding. Uncommon reveals lessons on achieving significance that the coach has learned from his remarkable parents, his athletic and coaching career, his mentors, and his journey with God. A particular focus of the book: what it means to be a man of significance in a culture that is offering young men few positive role models.
